About this list
In Paris, learning chess mostly means joining a club that teaches. Many clubs on this list run courses by age and level alongside their club evenings, from beginners' groups to the weekly courses of Club 608 for improving players and Châtillon Echecs' course for experienced players. Several also run holiday courses during the school breaks, among them Elan Paris Echecs, Palamède Echecs, Le Cavalier Rouge and the Rueil-Malmaison club.
A few associations are chess schools first: the Ecole Parisienne du Jeu d'Echecs with its youth club on rue Fagon in the 13th, Mozart Echecs Académie in the 16th with children's courses on Wednesday and Saturday, and Paris Jeunes Echecs in the 10th. Culture-Echecs in Suresnes adds online lessons to its courses. The list puts the clubs first, then the chess schools.
